Who am I?

From a child I was immersed in Franco-German exchanges, and from a very early age I developed a taste for foreign languages. This interest was confirmed and reinforced while I was at school, to such an extent that multilingualism was obviously going to be an essential part of my future profession.

A solid university education in German and then a specialization in translation and interpreting were to clarify and shape my future career. I would be a translator!  This would be my profession both for the in-depth knowledge of foreign languages and for the subtle mixture of accuracy and finesse in French required.

As languages cannot just be learnt in books, this knowledge was broadened thanks to numerous visits and professional experiences in Germany and England but also in the United States. Undoubtedly the best and most efficient way to get a thorough understanding of foreign languages and culture is to go to the country itself and gain first-hand experience!

I have been a freelance translator since 2002. I like describing my profession as being a window on the world providing an endless source of cultural enrichment.

I update and improve my skills regularly by following relevant training courses in my specialized fields whenever possible. However, undoubtedly the best ongoing training remains the discussion which takes place with clients in order to provide a tailor-made translation for them – team work is the key to a good translation!

Sometimes, I also teach courses for University students doing a Master’s Degree in multilingual translation, in order to prepare the next generation of translators as well as possible for their future profession.
